How substitutes work

Subs fill in when a rostered player cannot make it. To be considered you must add yourself to the event waitlist on Global Pickleball Network. That is the only way to get picked up for a session. It is one click. No waitlist, no game.

If you sign up as a sub, actually use the waitlist. If you do not, it creates unnecessary work for the volunteers running the league. Presumably you are here to play pickleball, so follow through.

Reliability expectations

Substitutes play for free and are held to the same standard as league players.

• Two late cancellations, meaning after Friday at noon, and you are removed from the sub group.
• One no-show and you are removed from the league.

Getting set up, in this order

1. Join the Gateway Smash network on GPN. Register here.
2. Install the GPN web app. It is not in the app stores. Follow their install instructions.
3. Create a DUPR account. Required to be eligible as a sub. Sign up at dashboard.dupr.com.
4. Link your DUPR account to GPN. Use this guide.
5. Download CourtReserve. New players only. Arch Pickleball uses it for check-in and facility access. Search for CourtReserve in the App Store or Google Play and register with Arch Pickleball.

After setup, three things you must do

1. Message an admin in the WhatsApp group once every step above is done. You are not active as a sub until an admin adds you to the roster.
2. Join the waitlist in GPN for every date you want to play. This is the only way you will be picked up as a sub. No waitlist, no game, no exceptions.
3. Do not ask to be added after the weekly schedule has been published. Once the schedule is out there is zero chance of getting added, whatever the circumstances. Please do not ask.

Where and when

Sunday nights, 6:00–8:00 PM, indoors at Arch Pickleball in Bridgeton. Everyone scans in at the front desk with the barcode in the CourtReserve app, tells the staff they are with Gateway Smash, and subs say who they are filling in for. Season dates are on the league schedule.
